A downloadable game

Star Fighter is a game made in a week for the B3agz game jam 2024.

You play as a star fighter trying to take down as many enemy ships as you can.

Can you make it to the boss enemy and defeat him? Good luck!

The theme for this jam is everything hurts! in that spirit everything you touch with your ship damages your shields and can destroy your ship. This includes all the loot boost drops that come, so make sure you have enough shields remaining to pick up that shield boost!! ;).

The controls are wasd for movement and space to shoot. The esc or "p" brings up the pause menu during game play to allow you to control your sound volumes and quit the game.

Thanks for playing and please let me know what you think!!

A fun romp through space, I could see adding moving enemies along the horizontal as well. I like the idea of wrapping the enemies around the stage until they are defeated. I wonder if there's something more that can be explored with that concept. It'd be cool if enemies adjusted their formation after certain collections of enemies die. Nice work for a week jam!

Thanks for playing it. I appreciate the feedback. Really wanted to add more enemies with different movements, but just ran out of time.

Love the sound effects. Feels very satisfying to fire weapons and hear them explode on the enemy ships!

The ship models are nice and read very well.

I appreciated the audio volume options, but I did kinda wish they were part of the main menu, instead of part of the pause menu. The music blasted my ears a bit at start.

In the game proper… the small UFOs, if they make it to the bottom of the screen, seem to spawn back at the top of the screen at the exact same position. I assume this happens with all of the enemies (I tended to beat all of them other ships before they reached the bottom. The UFOs are just really fast). In any case, I’m wondering if it would have been a little more interesting if the enemies spawned in different positions every time.

One small bug I encountered was, when I died, one of the sound effects just kept repeating while I hung out at the end game screen.

Over all, I think this is a fun little space shooter game!! Well done!

Man, Thanks so much for the feedback. That is odd that the sound looped.. Well, game jam game, if that is the worse bug, I am super happy. Yeah I could have put the sound option in the main menu. actually though about it, but I just ran out of time.

Thanks again, Im glad you enjoyed it!
